about

As we enter a 3rd week of Coronavirus lockdown, I'm lucky enough to be being invited to play more digital shows online. This is very much a brave new world for me as I'm used to playing 200/300 shows a year the old-school way, all of which have disappeared for now (along with my source of income), coupled with 30 festivals ranging from Glastonbury to Wilderness that I was due to play this summer.

At these virtual gigs more and more people have been kindly asking me if they can pay me for a "ticket" or donate to my "tip jar." I thought it would be a fun idea to put this live album up as a huge "THANK YOU" for all your support, so I can be giving something back to you too as thanks for your generosity. It's set so you can donate whatever you like, and digitally walk away with something as a token of my gratitude.

This whole live show, was taken from my album release at The Betsey Trotwood on the 18th January 2019. It was the first (and last at the time of writing) we were able to assemble my dream line-up, the band comprising of 3 of my favourite players (and old friends) in Nigel Stonier on piano, Joe Harvey-Whyte on Pedal Steel, and Jimmy Besley on drums.

The whole thing had a great "tight-rope feel" to it as we played the songs for the first time together on stage, the room was packed and I think we just about got away with it. There's some lovely moments nestled in amongst the warts-and-all unedited gig, and I had a ball.

Had I known we'd be putting this out I would have probably chatted less nonsense but there you go... this is how it all went down.

You get the Travelling Wilbury's encore too, heavily influenced by the Petty /Heartbreakers version.

Loads of love and hope you enjoy.
